As part of its 2023 budget, the Ford government has announced an increase in the number of health conditions for which pharmacists can prescribe treatments starting this fall. This expansion builds upon the powers previously granted to pharmacists by the Progressive Conservative government in January, aimed at alleviating the strain on family doctors, emergency rooms, and walk-in clinics.
The list of additional ailments pharmacists can prescibe treatment for include:
- Mild to moderate acne.
- Canker sores.
- Diaper dermatitis.
- Yeast infections.
- Pinworms and threadworms.
- Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.
This will be in effect by the fall 2023!
